Hyatt Hotels has announced the opening of two hotels marking the debut of Unbound Collection in Thailand, with the first new property set to open late 2026. Phoebe Paine writes…
Globally renowned Hyatt Hotels corporation have announced plans to open two additional hotels expanding on their pre-existing portfolio of upper-scale and luxury properties within the Unbound Collection. Their designs, developed in alignment with their philosophy to create distinctive experiences for cultured curious travellers, are part of this anticipated expansion. Hyatt are opening the Barai Hotel in Hua Hin and the Narai property in Silom with development set to conclude in 2028.
“We are proud to announce these plans to introduce The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand in Thailand with two distinctive properties in Hua Hin and Bangkok,” said David Udell, Asia Pacific group president.
Designed by celebrated architect Lek Mathar Bunnag, Barai Hua Hin will open adjacent to the beachfront offering 90 rooms and suites in addition to a spa, restaurants, pools and gardens cultivated with intent, for immersive indulgence. Drawing inspiration from the four elements of Thai healing philosophy- earth, water, wind, and fire it is set to be a temple of sanctuary.

The reconceptualised Narai hotel is in works to reopen under Hyatt as part of the Unbound collection in 2028. Designed by Heatherwick Studio, the design reflects the studios architectural motivation to create impactful and soulful spaces, celebrating real world complexities derived from human experience. The 250-room property will reside on site of the original Narai Hotel in Silom, Bangkok, sustaining its expansive legacy having been established first in 1968. The site will pay homage to the hotels iconic heritage whilst reflecting the vibrancy of the revitalised neighbourhood.
Udell marked this development as “an exciting chapter in our brand growth in the country and the Asia Pacific region. It underscores our commitment to delivering unique luxury experiences that today’s travellers increasingly seek.”
The Unbound Collection surpasses itself as a compilation of unique independent hotels and amalgamates as a considered curation of the stories in which the properties themselves tell. Each hotel provides thought provoking environments that fulfil the needs of guests seeking engaging and elevated service when they travel whether that’s found within a modern marvel, an iconic haven or a revitalising retreat.
