Nuanu Creative City is anew development that seamlessly integrates sustainable architecture, AI-driven art, a beach club and a 44-key boutique hotel, set against the backdrop of a stunning 44-hectare site along a rugged coastline.
Dubbed the “Island of the Gods,” this visionary multi-project destination aims to blend art, technology, hospitality, and nature into a harmonious ecosystem. Underway now, it is already garnering attention for its ambitious fusion of cutting-edge design and one entrepreneur’s bold, forward-thinking vision.
Envisioned as a future utopia, Nuanu Creative City is the brainchild of Russian tech entrepreneur and multimillionaire Sergey Solonin. Described as an “experiential park”, this ambitious project expands beyond traditional development to encompass education, wellness, and sustainability. With a focus on pioneering sustainable architecture, it aims to serve as a living case study for a new paradigm in eco-conscious urban living.
Three years ago, Solonin relocated to Bali and embarked on the ambitious Nuanu Creative City project, investing $100 million to date. What was once barren land and untamed jungle has now transformed into a vibrant, interconnected landscape. New pathways and streets weave through the site, leading to AI-managed art installations, a boutique hotel, a beach club, a spa and wellness centre, a children’s education campus, sound-healing spaces, yoga studios, and even an alpaca farm.Additionally, a newly launched butterfly breeding program aims to repopulate native species and enhance local biodiversity, furthering the project’s commitment to sustainability and ecological stewardship.
The site is already home to a striking array of architectural and artistic landmarks, including the Tri Hita Karana Tower, a recycled timber ‘lighthouse’ designed by architect Arthur Mamou Mani. There are also bamboo structures by Charlie Hearn of Inspiral Architects and Pablo Luna Designs, alongside captivating artworks by renowned artists Daniel Popper and Alexander Milov, each contributing to the project’s unique fusion of sustainability, innovation, and creativity.
The luxury hotel on the island, Oshom Bali, will comprise of a series of treehouse guestrooms, which will be perched atop historic mangroves. For Lumeira, Nuanu’s spa co-owners James Larkin and Jasper Sceats have drawn inspiration from traditional Balinese thatched structures, incorporating bamboo and alang alang, a durable, natural grass known for its exceptional use as roofing material. The entire spa operates on a carbon-zero model, powered by circular, renewable energy. A standout feature is the central wood-fired sauna, which utilises a pyrolysis stove to transfer excess heat to nearby pools, further enhancing the sustainable design.
In the next decade, Solonin envisions Nuanu evolving into a vibrant global hub where creativity flourishes, attracting some of the world’s most innovative minds to live, collaborate, and visit. It will become a thriving community of visionaries, artists, and change-makers, living and working in thoughtfully designed spaces that inspire innovation and creativity.
