Searches for ‘clear aligners’ rose 66% since 2022

Google searches for ‘clear aligners’ rose by 66% between 2022 and 2024, with a further 23% increase between October 2024 and October 2025.

As reported by Dentistry, Dr Bhavika Parekh said that the findings reflected a wider movement towards discreet and flexible healthcare choices:

“We’re seeing more adults than ever looking into orthodontic treatment. Clear aligners appeal to people who want a subtle, low-disruption way to improve the position of their teeth. For many, it feels like a modern option that aligns with their lifestyle and comfort levels.”

Dr Parekh suggests that the reasons for the increased interest in clear aligner treatment include:

  • Discreet appearance of clear aligner trays
  • Ability to remove the aligner for eating, toothbrushing, and social occasions
  • Increased public awareness of orthodontic options through social media
  • Advances in digital technology behind clear aligner orthodontics
  • Increased focus on adult oral health, with may people choosing to address long-term concerns

Dental related searches as a whole have risen. For example, in 2024, analysis found that searches for ‘tooth pain’ increased by 460% in the UK since June 2010. Additionally, searches for other oral health issues increased significantly:

  • Toothache by 227%
  • Chipped tooth by 329%
  • Gum pain by 330%
  • Yellow teeth by 268%
  • Bad breath by 133%
  • Bleeding gums by 110%
