Everything we know about Equinox Resort Amaala

After six years of close attention on the evolution of Amaala, Hamish Kilburn writes about its vision now sharpens into focus. With the opening of Equinox Resort Amaala expected this year, the Red Sea welcomes a new benchmark in wellness-led luxury – precise, disciplined and quietly transformative…

This year, along one of Saudi Arabia’s most pristine stretches of coastline, luxury takes a quieter turn – measured, intentional and refreshingly restrained, at a time when the region largely favours spectacle over subtlety.

Set in Triple Bay between crystalline Red Sea waters and dramatic mountain ranges, the resort occupies a coveted position beside the Triple Bay Marina Yacht Club. The setting feels intentionally cinematic: yachts gliding in at dusk, desert light shifting across the terrain, and architecture that knows when to recede so nature can take the lead.

Designed by Foster + Partners, Equinox Resort Amaala embodies a modern, disciplined elegance. With just 128 rooms and suites, the experience is intimate by design – crafted for travellers who value clarity, space and thoughtful restraint. Interiors lean into calm sophistication, providing a backdrop for days shaped by movement, restoration and quiet pleasure.

True to the brand’s DNA, wellness here is not a scheduled activity but a way of life. A flagship Equinox Fitness Club anchors the resort, complemented by regenerative spa rituals and nutrition-forward dining that prioritises balance without compromise. Above it all, a magnesium salt rooftop pool floats over the coastline—a moment of pause suspended in blue.

Beyond the gym and spa, the resort embraces a broader cultural rhythm. A Beach Club acts as a social nucleus, while curated experiences in art, adventure, yachting and outdoor sport reflect Amaala’s ambition to create a destination that feels alive—connected to its surroundings and deeply rooted in place.

“Amaala brings the best in health and wellness together in an area of extraordinary natural beauty to offer exceptional and transformative experiences for guests,” says John Pagano, Group CEO of Red Sea Global. “Equinox’s unique brand of luxury and fitness is a fantastic fit, allowing visitors to choose self-improvement during their stay, getting back to nature on land or at sea, or simply enjoying quiet moments with loved ones in comfort and privacy.”

Sustainability underpins the project, and indeed the wider Amaala development delivering a 30 per cent net conservation benefit to local ecosystems by 2040. The resort itself will operate on 100 per cent renewable energy and is designed to deliver a net positive environmental impact. From coral reefs and seagrass meadows to mangroves and native land vegetation, the emphasis is on restoration as much as preservation – luxury that leaves the lightest possible footprint.

As global travel continues to evolve around transformational experiences, Equinox Resort Amaala is arriving precisely on cue. In a world where wellbeing is no longer a trend but a priority, its opening signals a shift toward destinations that strengthen rather than simply seduce.

On the Red Sea, Equinox promises alignment – strength balanced with stillness, precision softened by ease. If the vision teased comes fully to life, this opening may well set a new benchmark for how we live, move and restore.
