The modern retreat, featuring what may be California’s most spectacular infinity pool, is expertly designed to blend with its surroundings. Serene outdoor spaces invite quiet reflection, framed by sweeping views of the rolling landscape and the distant Mount Saint Helena.
The natural, untamed landscape provided the inspiration for this sophisticated retreat, comprising a main residence and an adjacent guesthouse that doubles as a pool house. Crafted for a progressive family with a deep appreciation for nature, the home replaces its predecessor, tragically lost in a 2017 fire believed to have stemmed from an outdated electrical system.
The exterior showcases a refined blend of light-toned fibre-cement panels and expansive glass walls, while green roofs seamlessly merge the home with its natural surroundings.
The design team envisioned a series of sleek, elongated volumes, artfully arranged to frame and flow around tranquil outdoor spaces. Inside, airy, light-filled spaces are adorned with earthy textures and a muted colour palette, thoughtfully curated by Vancouver-based Gaile Guevara Studio to evoke a sense of understated elegance.
The luxury home features a variety of open-air living areas, each uniquely designed to complement its relationship with the site. These outdoor spaces effortlessly balance the needs for entertaining and hosting with opportunities for quiet moments of reflection, offering what the design team describes as “calm moments of immersion in the surrounding landscape.”
Hidden, the house opens toward a slender terrace to reveal a spectacular infinity pool.
